Winter Solstice approaching, December 5th 2010

Coming closer to the Winter Solstice, we find that the sun is not as readily greeting us and warming our faces each day. How do we find the light and warmth when there are times of darkness? Many feel they are living a life of darkness, struggling through circumstances not of their making.
We truly are responsible for our own happiness, especially our inner happiness. While some external situations can bring challenges and even times of despair, it is important to always remember that you are in control of how you deal with adversity. No one leads a perfect life, no matter how it looks from the outside everyone has challenges they are dealing with. Looking outside of yourself for happiness will always leave you coming up short. Only you have the power to control how you react, think or feel about a situation. We all play a key role in creating new, more positive feelings within ourselves. In times of light as well as darkness it is important to find your inner grace and share these feelings of grace with those around you. It all begins with you, move those around you towards feelings of harmony and acceptance, speak kindly, pause before complaining and see if you really need to say those word. What we speak goes out into the Universe and creates a world of kindness or a world of criticism.
Choose to make your words kind and caring both in times of light and especially in times of darkness. You have the ability to lighten the load for yourself and those around you.

"Look to the Sun" Kindred Spirits philosophy

Look to the Sun weekly blog is for Kindred Spirits who are searching for inspirational guidance on living a full, positive and compassionate life.

We live in such a graceful and caring time. Where people are concerned about their fellow man, showing kindness and charity to all they meet, lending a helping hand to those less fortunate and doing their utmost to live a life of dignity.
How did that sound to you? Did it sound like a world you wished you lived in. Did it inspire in you a desire to be just that? My hope is that it touched something inside of you that is dreaming of a world of kindness and caring, of respect and hope, of knowledge and freedom from hatred for simply being who you are. That is the goal of Look to the Sun weekly blog, to move us forward, individually to a place in the world where you feel free to be happy, free to be caring and free to live without fear, anger or judgment. Does that seem impossible to obtain. Its not and it starts with you, simply you. We cannot change those around us, we can only change ourselves and with that action we subtly change those around us. The words you speak hang in the air forever, speaking kindness sends kindness through the airwaves to those around you, having a gentle, non-judging, non-fearing energy in your body, sends out the same type of energy to everyone you meet.
While we appear to be living in a graceless age with consumerism and materialism being the ruling forces, we do not have to participate and, through lack of participation we are not fueling the fires that breed this type of thoughtlessness.
Many of us have lost our kindness and do not know how to find it again. We know something is missing so we buy self help books, tapes, go to seminars and desperately try to find something to shift our lives into a more compassionate, graceful way to live. It is not easy today in 2010 when all around us is talk of violence and fear and it seems very few seem to care. How do you connect with the goodness you know is in your heart and truly live a life feeling compassionate, peaceful and who you know you really are.

Look to the Sun is exactly that. Looking to the brightness in life, the warmth and energy that sustains us all. Weekly inspirational talks, grounded in reality then a 20 minute yoga routine that is balanced with both flexibility and strength. By getting in tune with your body and releasing the toxins that we all carry in us, slowly you will rediscover your true self, the person you always wanted to be and knew you could be. These yoga poses will be for the everyman, simple and easy to follow yet each pose has the ability to open your heart, your mind and your body. Chest and shoulder openers open the heart, hip openers bring feelings of peace and calm to your life, balance poses help to bring stability and focus into your heart and mind. A clear mind, knowing the way forward, confident that you are on the right path brings such feelings of happiness and that sense of "aha" this is it, a sense of knowing that this is how to find your kindness once again.

Remember, you are not alone, there are many others walking this path with you.
